Meet our Senior Management team

Les Cruickshank

Les Cruickshank founded the company in 1956 with a used grader and a strong work ethic. After completing work for the St. Lawrence Seaway, Ontario Hydro and Bell Telephone, he moved the company into the road construction business and began to build a reputation for quality products and services.

Over the years, Les grew Cruickshank into a full-service road construction company, including quarries, plants and infrastructure services. In 2000, he passed on ownership to his son Steve. Les continues to be involved in the company as a mentor and advisor, as well as host of the company’s popular Roadkill Cafés. In 2007, Les Cruickshank was inducted into the Ontario Road Builders Association Hall of Fame.

In 2000, Steve took over as Cruickshank’s CEO, a role he still occupies and now uses to champion the Cruickshank brand and provide strategic direction and vision with a focus on driving corporate growth. Under Steve’s leadership, Cruickshank has expanded operations in Ontario; was a winner of Canada's Best Managed Companies program in 2011-2013 and re-qualified as a Gold Standard winner from 2014-2016, ranked as one of the Best Employers in Canada for 2013, one of the Top Fifty Best Small and Medium Employers in Canada from 2010-2012; been selected as one of Canada’s most environmentally-conscious companies by Maclean's magazine for 2011-2012 (The Green 30); and grown to over 500 employees.
